There’s a lot of talk about the potential that we might be witnessing the end of the Sportster. Over the last year or so I’ve owned my little 1200 Custom, I’ve come to appreciate this little gal for what a great bike she is, and regardless of whether or not the Sporty is a short timer, I’m not sure the current Sportster line is the future of the MoCo.
There aren’t too many $6 parts that will bring a ride to a stop, but a torn valve stem is one of them. Just after pulling into town in Montpellier, ID, we pulled over for lunch and to fix a flat tire. What I thought would be a quick fix turned out to be a torn valve stem—difficult to fix without a a motorcycle jack, but we got it done.
